The Day I Wrecked My Cousin’s Hair—And How DIY Social Media Can Do the Same to Your Brand

This one's for all the busy business owners.
When I was around twelve years old, I committed a crime so heinous it took decades to stop hearing it at every family gathering. My younger cousin Tracy, in a moment of misplaced trust, handed me a pair of scissors and let me "style" her hair.
Let me tell you, I had no training, no plan, and absolutely no clue what I was doing. But I had scissors and way too much confidence. So, naturally, I went for it like some kind of wannabe stylist.
The result? Total disaster.
I’m talking bangs so uneven they looked like I cut them with a spork during an earthquake.
The vibe? “Girl barely escaped a wrestling match with a weed whacker.”
And of course, I kept trying to “fix” them...which only made everything worse.
Tracy wasn't happy, my mom wasn't happy, and I considered packing a bag and running away just to escape the consequences. Lucky for me, my mom was cool, so the only consequence was taking my cousin to the local hairdresser and paying a professional to fix it—lesson learned!
Which brings me to social media.
Most small business owners treat their social media the way I treated Tracy’s hair—armed with zero experience and a reckless amount of blind enthusiasm.
They wing it.
Many will post whenever the mood hits, completely at random, with zero strategy in sight. Throw in some blurry, awkwardly sized photos and cringe-worthy typos, and the whole vibe is as polished as my cousin’s sad haircut.
That’s where OffTheVinePR.com (that’s me!) steps in—ready to bring your business to life, craft your unique story, and make waves with your social media presence. From Facebook and Instagram to Threads, X, Pinterest, and BlueSky, I’ve got you covered. Need custom blog posts or articles? Say no more—I’m here to make it happen!
I'm a Certified Social Media Strategist, and while I'll occasionally cook spaghetti for dinner, I won't throw it on your social media "wall" to see what sticks. I can help you craft strategies to build engagement, make your brand look professional, and intentional.
So, If you're a small business owner stuck in the endless loop of crafting posts, tweaking captions, and feeling like you’re getting nowhere? Let's chat.
Think of it this way—your social media presence doesn’t have to be the digital version of Tracy’s disastrous haircut (still recovering from those ugly cries... mostly mine). Instead, let’s give your online presence something you’ll be proud of.
Let's ditch the frustration, save you time (you have a business to run, after all), and bring order to the chaos with custom content tailored for your business—and your budget.
The best part? No pasta required (but always appreciated).
