Wine List Overwhelm? Read These Tips!

Do you ever find yourself staring at a huge wine list feeling overwhelmed or confused about which wine to order?

Here are a few questions to ask your sommelier that’ll help you select the right wine (and you'll sound confident):

✤ You could start with: "I usually like [insert favorite wine]. Do you have anything similar?" This way, you’ll get a suggestion based on something you already enjoy.

✤ Worried about getting recommendations that go over your budget? Just ask, "What's your favorite wine in the $50, $60, $80, or $100 range?" (You can fill in your own price range!) It’s a great way to get suggestions that won’t empty your wallet or stress you out.

✤ Of course, if you're ordering a meal, simply ask: "What wine [insert budget range] would you suggest to pair with [insert main dish]?"

✤I really love this question: "Which wines on your list are you excited about right now?" Sommeliers know all the hidden gems, and asking this can help you find a new favorite, learn about a cool lesser-known region or varietal, and enjoy something totally unexpected—and delicious!

Any Somm worth their Cabernet should appreciate these questions.🍷
